Five on Friday

1. Olivia loves Target. My mom took her one time and bought her Haribo gummies, and now she wants them almost every time we go. I usually let her eat them and then pay for the empty wrapper. Don't pretend you don't do it too.

I told her I would open her gummies for her if she'd smile for a picture. I forgot she still thinks "smile" means close your eyes. Best not to laugh when a toddler does something wrong, and then ask her to do it over and over to show your friends. School picture day will be interesting this year.

2. Koda loves to take Olivia for a walk.

Olivia enjoys it too.

Actually, our little personal trainer has asked for a walk every night after dinner for the past few weeks. She makes us run, jump, squat, never sit, and now go for evening walks. Does Jillian know I haven't done her DVD in over a year? Tony Horton? Seriously, who sent her?

3. All girl. Bow, baby doll, and painted toes. She sure is sweet when she sleeps.

4. This picture inspired everything about Olivia's second birthday party. You can see the pinterest board here. Invites have gone out and Olivia and I can't wait.

5. I forgot to take a picture of this the last time we were in Atlanta, but my parents made a house out of a box for Olivia. There are windows on the sides, real hinges and doorknobs on the door, and she loves it! Isn't it the cutest?

18 Weeks

I promise I'm a million times bigger by the end of the day.

I spoke too soon in my last post. Tuesday was rough as far as nausea, but since I'm having many normal days, I think I'm almost there.

Also, the lab marked my blood work as normal, but my doctor hadn't taken a look at it. She called on Tuesday. Said that it's been dropping so quickly, she wanted me to start iron that night. It sounds weird to be so excited about iron. But, if you've been anemic, you know its rough.

I think it's great news all around.

We're having a pumpkin beer tasting party tomorrow and I'm bummed that I can't partake. Also, I'm pretty sure I was the only pregnant lady buying 70 pumpkin beers at Total Wine.

Or the only weirdo who buys 70 pumpkin beers.

First Trimester Lifesavers Round 2

I already did this the first time around, but have found much better items this time, and I wanted to share.

1. Preggie pop drops. I didn't believe in these. So much so that I never once tried them when sick with Olivia, or this time until about 13 weeks. But, holy crap, they work. They wont make you feel 100%, but they take the edge off every time. I have no idea why they work. I've tried other sour candies and lemon drops - but there's something magic about them.

2. Dry Shampoo. I don't know why it took me so long to join the dry shampoo craze, but this is a life saver, not just a first trimester lifesaver. I asked the girl at Sephora and she said she was the 'dry shampoo queen' and had used every single one Sephora sells and likes Dry Bar the best. I can go 5 or so days without washing my hair and it has saved so much time in my life. I'm always begging for more hours in the day, and this one helps! There is a brunette version too.

3. Yeti cup. First of all, you need to drink a lot more water while pregnant. Dan just got this for my birthday and I'm obsessed. I loved tervis tumblers because they don't sweat. But never loved the fact that they weren't BPA free, plus the fact that BPA and BPA free plastics can both be bad for you - can't win. So this is a stainless steel cup that doesn't sweat. That was enough for me to want it. Says it keeps ice longer. This time around, in this summer heat, one huge thing to keep me from throwing up is ice cold water.

Dan put ice water in it at 6pm and said, "you think it'll stay cold all night long?" And I was all "no, you idiot, longer means like 5 hours, not all night." Well .. the ice was still in the water at noon the next day. This is crazy. A normal sized straw fits in the mouth piece. It's heavy, but I could use a good arm workout these days.

4. Orange juice. I can't get down the normal prenatals without orange juice. I thought other juices, soda, ginger ale, would have a stronger flavor, but for some reason OJ is the only thing that masks it. I keep a mini one in the fridge and use it for the vitamins throughout the week.

5. Gummy prenatals. I did my best to take my normal prenatal every day - I need the iron, and the gummy ones don't have as many vitamins as other brands. But there were many times when the vitamin would not go down or stay down. I love having these as back up.

6. Fruit popsicles. It was HOT this year. And Olivia wanted to only play outside. And I could only drink so much ice water. These were a great little treat for both of us in the afternoons.

7. La Croix Curate. Especially the pineapple strawberry. The curate has a stronger flavor and tastes like a soda. No sodium, fake sugars, sugars, calories, or stevia. When you need a break from water. Or need a pretend cocktail. This is my jam.

17 Weeks

The nausea seems almost completely gone this week - and it is WONDERFUL. I still feel sick sometimes, but its usually from eating sugar or being hungry - two things I can avoid.

Sugar is starting to sound better - but I just don't react well after eating it. #boy

The tiredness is creeping in. My iron is on the lowest end of normal and I can feel it. She said if you are anemic in one pregnancy, it's worse and earlier in the subsequent - so she's waiting for it. But she's going to wait to test again in 4 weeks to start iron treatment, and I'm worried it'll be a few weeks too late like last time.

Speaking of tired, my tornado of a child only wants to play outside. I grabbed all her toys, my water, and a lawnchair so I could sit in the front yard while she played. She was happy as a clam and I realized I forgot to fold my laundry (after running it back a third time) - I grabbed my laundry basket and sat back in my chair to fold while Olivia continued to play.

Dan pulls into the driveway, sees me, in a lawn chair in our front yard, folding laundry, using another lawn chair to 'hang' the hanging pieces. He goes "what kind of trailer park have you turned this place into?" I guess that escalated quickly.

16 Weeks

16 weeks .. a few days late.

To avoid the bathroom mirror selfie (and the next best thing is the bathroom, next to a mirror, non-selfie), I am trying to get Dan to take the pictures. The number of times that he is home AND I'm not sweating or covered in bubbles is very rare, apparently. So I drug him out of bed at 6 am to take this before running off to work.

I chopped all my hair off. I'll grow it out again, but right now its so light and easy.

I'm up 10 pounds. Which, if you are counting, is 8 pounds higher than with Olivia at this point. BUT, this baby currently weights 0.25 pounds. So it's not all me, yall.

Still not sleeping well. If it isn't insomnia, I'm up every hour to pee. That never went away with Olivia until I had her, so I think I just better get used to tired. Tired with a toddler is a whole new meaning of tired.

15 Weeks

15 weeks, 100% in maternity, and finally caught up with the weekly pictures!

Two things:
  • 2 more weeks until I have to fit into the size 4 bridesmaid I ordered - #whoops #queso #can'tstopwon'tstop
  • My male coworker told me, "wow, you look huge compared to yesterday." Things not to say to a pregnant lady #784932.

14 Weeks

14 weeks. The last week that my pants buttoned. And probably the last week with any sort of beautiful scenery.
