Catch Up

This week just flew by. I worked too many hours and Olivia and I played too many hours and the next thing you know its Friday and your husband is off to a bachelor party (sorta .. long story) and you get a text of him in a parking lot around 8pm sans pants. You know how it is.

I'll just condense the weekend and week recaps in one giant post.

Last weekend Dan and I went to the playground at Olivia's school and played with her for a few hours. So much fun! She laughed and squealed and climbed and we loved it. We went to the big kid slides and big kid swings. I didn't think it was fair that at daycare they just put her in the sandbox - so I took it upon myself to show her the ropes. Then, at daycare, Olivia took it upon herself to leave the sandbox, go play on the big kid slide, bump her head, and get sent home with an incident report from the teachers. My B.

Total Pinterest idea steal - there are a million of these - but I just grabbed a few things that I thought Olivia would like to play with (some latches, hinges, tap light, mailbox flag, doorknob, etc.) and used a stool top (in the wood section) since it was already sanded, etc., screwed in the pieces and had a new toy in just a few minutes. The door stop is her favorite.

While I was there, the nice man at Lowe's gave me a few of the messed up keys - I grabbed a cute keychain and now Olivia has her own set of keys. This is a huge win and might avoid her drowning my car lock / unlock button in drool.
O is still obsessed with her pumpkin bucket from Halloween. It might be a staple in the toy bin. She carries it around and puts things in it. The other day I found our car keys and a tomato inside. Hoarder.

This little ham could spend every second outside. Add to the list of things she learned from the dog: going to the door, banging on it and crying to be let outside. Right as it's getting super cold out. Efff.

Happy weekend! Hope everyone stays warm!

  1. Oh my goodness! The picture of her in the highchair made my heart melt. She is just too cute! I love your sensory board thingy...that must be what my mom was talking about making for Mase. She was explaining it to me and all I could think of was way would you do that!?! Now I get it lol.

Mason loves being outside also! He screams when we bring him back in. He'll press his face against the door, look out and then point and babble to us like he's saying 'Hey I have to go investigate that rock, blade of grass, leaf etc. now let me out!'

    1. Haha - Olivia loves playing with all the latches. When I first saw it, I thought only a boy would really like it - until Olivia's obsession with the doors. Mason and Olivia would be great friends. They could sit outside all day together. I have a fenced in yard - they can't go too far ;)

  2. I need to make one of those gadgets! Currently Olivia's favorite thing in all rooms are the doorstoppers; or the "boingys" as my 7 year old niece calls them.

    1. Our door stoppers are hard, so she played with them, but this 'boingy' one is so much more fun! Just screw a few to a pieces of wood - Olivia might find that just as entertaining.

  3. Olivia looks like so much fun!! She's quite the adventurer :) I LOVE her busy board and real keys are probably her dream come true. I'm not sure why they are so enticing to little ones. Great work :)

    1. Now we don't have to sit in front of the door lock on a chair for her to play with it. :)

  5. So much style in one post! Love the busy board! So impressed you made it (well maybe not so impressed - I mean you made a tutu too). I'm convince all kids are hoarders. I would throw things out while the boys napped and if I got caught I blamed the dog.
