Our Weekend + Apple Picking

Zebra, my favorite restaurant in Charlotte, does what they call 'magic night' every quarter. It's black and white attire, a five course meal, wine pairings, and then they do a magic show with the 'best magician in North America' (self proclaimed, I'm sure). They only take ten couples, and it sells out immediately. We had a sitter and did that Friday night - so much fun! And the food there is always sooo good!

This was the only weekend in October that we had a free Saturday, so we had to go apple picking. After being up too late Friday, I dragged Dan into the car to head to Sky Top Orchard.

As soon as we got in the car, I realized I forgot my camera. Mom brain. So these are all cell phone shots.

We wore vests on vests.

Because what one year old doesn't need a fur vest?

Olivia loved holding the bucket. We have since gotten her a Halloween pumpkin bucket for trick or treating - she is obsessed with carrying it around and putting things inside it.

I waited in line 45 minutes for apple cider donuts.

#Worthit

It was SO crowded. There were thousands of people there. Most were in the donut line. And then I swear they all migrated to the apple cider line, once I wanted that.

Olivia excels at taking the apples out of our bucket.

Based on this chart, she's somewhere between 0 and 3 feet tall.

This flower one just cracks me up.

These two:

My favorite pumpkin in the whole patch.

I love going to sky top orchard, despite the two hour drive and how crowded it is. Olivia had a blast and I hope she enjoys it every year!

  1. The cuteness is too much to handle! I wish it was cool enough down here to wear vests. You guys look so cute and like you had so much fun. And apple cider donuts sound amazing! I had a pumpkin one yesterday... well Mason got to it before I did lol.

    1. It was a solid 20 degrees cooler in the mountains than in Charlotte. But it is getting cooler finally. Haha, Mason!! He knows a good thing when he sees it! We bought a dozen because 1) I stood in line soo long and 2) we knew Olivia would want one!

  6. What a fun trip! We've never braved it, but I've always heard good things about Sky Top. The pictures are perfect. And Zebra has a magic night? What?

    1. If you do brave it - choose a weekday. Unless you aren't scared of crowds. Noon on a beautiful Saturday was busy! Dan stresses at these kinds of situations, but I eat them up! Hence me standing in line for the donuts! Haha. And yes, they do it quarterly. We heard about it the last time we were there - and they signed us up, but I guess it sells out quickly. It was a lot of fun!

  7. Jeff and I went to Sky Top a few weeks ago.. there were 21382109382019 people there then too! The donuts were 100% worth it though. We made a big mistake only getting six. :(

    1. So crowded! We only got six last year - and after a few minutes Dan looked down and he had eaten four, barely remembering them. This year we got 12!
